Issue III: Re/Untold
Letter from an Editor
When we set out to make the theme for this issue RE/UNTOLD, at the back of our minds we worried that the theme wouldn’t be clear enough, not many would want to submit, etc. But as we checked our inboxes each week, the pieces that were sent in continued to blow us away, shifting narratives across time, space, and borders in innovative, distinct ways. The issue came to define itself quite clearly as the submissions continued to come in, and we selected these beautiful pieces. Join us in a journey down into wonderland, where you’ll rediscover classic fairytales, narratives, and familiar characters in new and different ways. Pieces like "the vein that lead to the flames" and "her bloodied hands" uproot the villains we know and gave them stunning backstories. "Rapunzel" brought a modern light to an old fairytale, and "Untitled Film" and "Paper Doll," had us suspended from ourselves. "I love you, only to your back" and "Echoes" reflect on love that is and was and "stages" and "fragile life in three parts," reflects on eras in our lives that come and go. Thank you to our wonderful staff, who you can meet here, and TYWI's Creative Director who designed the stunning cover, Brent Freeman. As we re-read this issue over and over, we are humbled by the magic of our contributors that brought Re/Untold into a light that we didn't anticipate. Read this gorgeous issue in order, and we promise, you won't forget it.
