JUVEN
issue iv: unthemed
Issue IV is unthemed, and submissions are open on Duotrope! Submit writing and art from any genre, but if you want a general idea of what we want, at Juven, we strive to publish honest and deceptive work. Kind of a paradox, right? What we mean is that we want to publish work that strives to tell us something, that strives to change how we see the world. We want work that takes risk to makes a point, work that unsettles the comfortable and comforts the unsettled. We're all about perspective here, and we want you to change ours and the perspectives of our readers. We may sound like we're only for literary fiction, but we adore genre fiction, poetry, and experimental works as well. A great example of a fantastic fantasy piece that recently blew away our team was The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. A piece of lit fic that took us to another world? Infinite Country by Patricia Engle. A poet that challenges us to think differently? Ilya Kaminsky and Fatimah Asghar. Check out the "Juven" section of our blog to read about our favorite books and movies, our taste, and our vision for the press in the future.
